Dr Ben Thompson is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology (FACD).
Dr Thompson has an interest in all fields of dermatology including the early diagnosis and treatment of skin malignancy, paediatrics and advanced medical treatments for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
Dr Thompson studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, graduating with honours in 2008. His early postgraduate medical training was at John Hunter Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Dr Thompson completed his four-year specialty training in dermatology at St. Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst, The Skin Hospital Darlinghurst, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. This included being selected for a one-year secondment to the Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust in the UK.
In his final year of the Australasian College of Dermatological exams, Dr Thompson was recognised for his excellence with an American Academy of Dermatology prize.
Dr Thompson completed a postgraduate research master’s degree in skin cancer prevention at the University of Sydney (2015) and has contributed to international journals, co-authored a text book chapter on skin cancer prevention and presented at both local and international conferences. He has also volunteered at the Regional Dermatology Training Centre in Tanzania.
